It was one of my best friend's birthday and we all friends knew it would be a long day for us. All of us had decided to surprise her and after a lot of confusion[According to my friends,I am synonymous to confusion... :P],we finally got into the Churchgate local together. But then I realised what a different world our trains have become thanks to Swine Flu....
Once you set foot on the railway platform, you will see people choking themselves with their "clean" handkerchiefs which are dripping of Eucalyptus Oil [does it really help prevent swine flu or not is what no one is sure of ???]It is difficult not to feel paranoid in the trains these days. You can see people wearing green, disposable[which I guess no one does but is highly recommended] masks. And yes if you have not set your hand on one of those, I believe you must get one from the chemist's before he runs out of stock[ which he might as you read this blog]. And just in case you forget, there are always little kids outside the station screaming 'DUS KA EK' while flaunting tens of those, to remind you of the same :).
I cannot help believing that it must be scene in every other form of public transport like buses and also the public places which are aplenty in Aamchi Mumbai. The scene is so bad that everyone eyes every other person as though the other is the reason probably why I might fall pray to Swine Flu. Making your way through crowded places has become one heck of a task these days. On top of that, if you happen to sneeze in public , you might as well not remain a part of the public for long...
The City has seen some UPs and many DOWNs in recent past, but it has had enough appetite to digest all of it and I hope it has enough left for this one.
